17 th century Rose Cross
In the current library of A.M.O.R.C., at Rosicrucian Park in California, we can observe an ancient cross dating back to the 17 th century,This cross is believed to be a Master’s jewel that the first Rosicrucians, coming from different European countries on board the “Sarah Maria” in 1694, are thought to have brought with them to the New World.
According to the writings of Harvey Spencer Lewis, Mrs May Banks Stacey, one of the first descendants of these Rosicrucians, passed this jewel on to him, as a symbol of the bond uniting the Rosicrucians of the past with those of the present, but also as a symbol of the bond that unites the Rosicrucians of the “Old Continent” to those of the “New World”.
The brass Cross presented in this box is a true reproduction of this ancient cross, the dimensions of which were 2.16 in x 2.95 in. The colour of the rose in the centre of the cross was chosen to be consistent with the original model, which was made out of coral.
