Description

This characteristic seal of the first seals of the Masters of the Templar Order was the one of Renaud or Regnaud de Vichier, one of the great masters of the Order of the Temple.
It is seen as engraved: “Sigillum: Militum: Xristi” ie “Seal of the Temple militia (of Solomon) and of Christ”, It represents two armed men mounting a same horse. It symbolizes different aspects of the ideal templar: poverty, humility, fraternity. From a more mystical point of view, it is a reference to the real detachment which the Templar had to show, in harmony with the motto “Non nobis, Domine, non nobis …” This could only be done by a search for mastery of Ego to reach communion with the Divine, “Poverty” then takes on an initiatory meaning.
