Description
This globe, which turns without a stand, moves using daylight or artificial light and by the force of the Earth’s magnetic field. Its slow movement allows us to contemplate the beauty of Saturn.
Saturn is the second largest planet in our solar system and is the only planet known to be less dense than water. Represented as a globe with lively sunset streaks of orange, red and yellow, the Saturn MOVA Globe is a stunning recreation that appears to float like the low-density planet itself.
The globe is made up of an outer sphere in transparent acrylic, within which a second sphere, containing liquid, is placed. It is this inner sphere that contains the image of the Earth. In the space between the two spheres there is an equal amount of liquid to that contained in the inner sphere. A magnetic element placed in the inner sphere is adjusted to react with the Earth’s magnetic field. It runs on photovoltaic cells. Daylight or artificial light crosses the surfaces of the two spheres and arrives at the solar cells the energy from this light is stored by the internal mechanism. This energy is used to drive the propulsion system.
