The Tocobaga Native Americans once occupied the area we now call Safety Harbor, establishing their “Temple Community” here. Learn about their fascinating customs, culture and interaction with the now world renowned mineral springs. Hear the interesting life and legend of Odet Phillippe, our founding father. Witness the development and commercialization of the springs through the early 1930’s, and find out how Safety Harbor came to be known as the “Health Giving City”.
Come hear the lively powerpoint program presented by resident Caryl Dennis, a Safety Harbor historian, tour associate, and author. Caryl recently collaborated on the 2017 Centennial Safety Harbor Historical Calendar with Safety Harbor Tours, the City of Safety Harbor, the Safety Harbor Historical Society, and the author of A Brief History of Safety Harbor.
