Dat Rosa Mel Apibus: The rose gives the bees honey

This engraving is an extract from the work of Robert Fludd (1629), “Summum Bonum”. The rose, symbol of the soul, blossoms on the cross, which is represented by the stalk and leaves. The bees remind us that the inner journey requires intensive personal work. The waves on the surface of the garden are the vagaries of life that we must face. The spider represents the pitfalls we must avoid, those of our own weaknesses and imperfections. This incense is made with the combined essences of four roses (two red and two white), and the perfume emanating from it is extremely refined.
