The ancient Greeks used the same characters to write numbers and words. The numerical value derived from the sum of letters in a word or phrase concealed a hidden meaning. Do words and phrases having common sums have any correlation? This presentation will reveal to you the tradition of Isopsephia, how it related to Kabbalah Gematria, and ways to use it with modern phone apps. Mystic and Rosicrucian terminology will also be analyzed in ritual, allegories, and doctrinal formulations rooted in this ancient numerology.
Jim Schwonek studied Physics in the 80’s at MIT and later earned a Master’s of Science in Computer Information Systems in the 2000’s. He currently is a Computer Engineer in Technical Operations at a major bank.
As lifelong learner of mystical and philosophic ideas, he spends his time working in fraternal organizations, notably the prestigious Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC) and the Traditional Martinist Order. Jim is presenting this article from AMORC’s Rose-Croix Journal (2005). He has also had the honor of publishing in the 2018 Volume and presenting that article at Agartha previously.
FREE admission, delicious refreshments, and social conversations are enjoyed after presentation.
